Description
The King wishes Bexley to write to his friend Mr Grant concerning the Marquess of Hastings. The King understands that Lord Hasting's friends in the Court of Directors [of the East India Company] intend to move for a frant of a further sum in recognition of his distinguished services in India, a measure which the King fully suppports and is therefore making a personal application to Mr Grant through Lord Bexley. The King is 'bound by every tie of affection' towards Hastings 'with whom the King has liv'd as a Brother, upwards of forty years'.
