Description	Dalrymple is pleased to see that William is very close to the Duke of York [Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany]; he praises simple pleasures in life and the ability to be contented with less. In support of his views he quotes the beginning of a composition by [Alexander] Pope [An Essay on Man; or The First Book of Ethic Epistles to H. St. John L. Bolingbroke]. He talks about the latest development in foreign politics and, in particular, of foreign alliances. After having presented a detailed picture of the current situation of continental politics, Dalrymple agrees with William that this is all in a 'fluctuating state'. He briefly updates him on home politics as well. The Prince of Wales caught a severe cold after falling asleep in his wet clothes - he as back from hunting.
