Description
Dated both 21 October (Russian calendar) and 2 November.
The Duchess writes of her enjoyment of the social life of St Petersburg; she is well, it is not too cold and she is learning Russian; she is amused to find that she is thought to be the daughter of the King of England, and the Empress has given her a carriage with an English cypher, although people are surprised that she doesn't know English.
