Title
Letter from William Pitt to George III
Date
30 May 1798
Writer
Pitt, William (1759-1806)
Addressee
George III, King
Description
Pitt writes to discuss the impossibility of resisting the proposal that the Prince of Wales should apply for a large proportion of income for the Prince's debts, and encloses an estimate of numbers. Pitt asks George III to consider the risks of conceding or progressing with the 'certainty of failure'. Pitt resolves that he must complete the trial even with the "Certainty of Failure", as he believes that proposed measures are both against George III and the Prince's interests.
