Title | Letter from Sir William Ross to his sister Maria, regarding Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge. |
Date | 20 October 1849 |
Writer | Ross, William Charles, Sir; Miniature Painter to Queen Victoria |
Addressee | Ross, Maria, Miss |
Description | The Duke of Cambridge has sent Ross £15.15 for a drawing and Ross informs Maria that she is quite at liberty to open the parcel and disburse the money in the way she proposes, although he will wish to acknowledge receipt to the Duke. Ross asks Maria to order one or two hundred new cards and to tell Hugh to put two dozen in the pocket of the coat he is to send. Ross also asks for Lanza's work on Sunday music and enquires if the sum of 44 pounds has been received from Messrs Child. He reports that he has had a beautiful drive to Alnwick Castle. Ross later adds that he has received the coat, which he begs Maria to say to Hugh he likes very much, and the cards which he does not recollect ordering before. He wishes to know how Mrs William Robertson is as she was very ill. Ross will be leaving for Edinburgh in the morning. |
