TitleLetter from Mary Charlton to Maria Ross reporting recent news.
Date13 March [1850s]
WriterCharlton, Mary
AddresseeRoss, Maria, Miss
DescriptionMary explains to Maria that although it has been some time since she has been in communication, she often speaks of her and the rest of their old and valued friends - she wishes for their society very much as there are few people in Wilton who have either the talent or inclination to form the pleasant circle like their London friends. Mary thanks Maria and Sir William for their kindness to Elizabeth who has paid them a lengthy visit. She hopes Elizabeth is now prepared to return home and will not wear out her welcome.
Mary is glad to hear Sir William has returned home safely after what must have been an anxious time for all and hopes that Maria will be able to pay them a visit this Spring. Mary [not the letter writer] is far from strong at present but it is hoped that the fine weather will restore her to health. Mary asks for her kindest regards to be passed on to Sir William and Mr and Mrs Dalton.
