Title | Part of a letter from Sir William Ross to his sister Magdalene, regarding his visit to Wales. |
Date | [?1850s] |
Writer | Ross, William Charles, Sir; Miniature painter to Queen Victoria |
Addressee | Ross, Magdalene, Miss; miniature painter |
Description | Sir William writes from Wales, where he hoped to see Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, but was prevented from doing so by mist and cloud. He has also visited Caernarvon, where there is a fine castle in which 'one of our Kings was born, a strategem of King Edward I to content the Welsh'. Sir William has received a parcel containing a coat and three letters and it gave him much pleasure to have one written from Magdalene, although it was short one. He was glad to know she had received part of the money which she had almost despaired of, but is grieved to hear poor Mrs Hodgings is again very ill. Undated. |
