Title | Letter from Mary Bonnell to Magdelene Dalton regarding some miniatures that she is painting for her. |
Date | 1 March 1851 |
Writer | Bonnell, Mary Anne Harvey |
Addressee | Dalton, Magdalene, Mrs; miniature painter |
Description | Mary Anne Harvey Bonnell thanks Mrs Dalton for being so punctual in sending the first miniature, which arrived safely this morning. She very much approves of the likeness and indeed the whole picture. She agrees that the darkness of the coat allows a little relief, though a black one would be better still [with] the black satin wristband he always wore and a small gold pin in his shirt. Mr Bonnell is equally pleased, but thinks that the forehead is rather too fair for his age. Miss Bonnell asks Mrs Dalton to begin immediately in copying the second printing from the original and when that is done to forward them to her so that she can compare the two together. She hopes Mr Bonnell will be in London to settle everything - he would have been before but he sprained his ankle which has confined him the last three weeks. |
