Title | Letter from Charlotte Crawford to her aunt, Magdalene Dalton, expressing her sympathy at Hugh Dalton's death. |
Date | 17 December 1873 |
Writer | Crawford, Charlotte, Mrs |
Addressee | Dalton, Magdalene, Mrs; miniature painter |
Description | Charlotte Crawford writes that she had been intending to write to her aunt for some months past, but her great trouble has prevented her from doing so. She has just heard from her cousin that Hugh has left this world and she hastens to offer her sympathy at Mrs Dalton's loss. Mrs Crawford writes that she has moved into a small house more suited to her altered circumstances but it is very cheerful and nice and she would be happy to see her aunt when she is able to pay a visit. She hears that her aunt has gone into the country to live, which she is delighted about as it will be much more cheerful for her. Since she came to the house, Mrs Crawford has had twin babies, both boys. She has lost one but the other thrives well and is a dear little thing. All the other children are well. She hopes that her aunt will come and spend the day with her soon and to bring her lady companion if she is still with her. Mrs Crawford hopes this reaches her aunt as she does not know her address, but is sure it will be forwarded from Gower Street.
