Date14 April 1856
WriterRoss, Sir William Charles; Miniature painter to Queen Victoria
AddresseeAustin, August
DescriptionSir William is annoyed to say that he is little accustomed to reading French writing, but the letters written by Mr Austin are almost illegible for him. He has sent a little donation of 5 shillings which he hopes Mr Austin will accept and he hopes to call in when the Great Exhibition has closed and he begins his work at the School of Painters.

The letter was received by Mr Austin on 14 April 1856, the day after his fortieth birthday.
