Letter from Queen Victoria to Albert Edward, Prince of Wales
Date
17 March 1876
Writer
Victoria, Queen
Addressee
Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (1841-1910)
Description
On the passage of the [India] Royal Titles Bill, Queen Victoria remarks that the 'gratuitous wilful misapprehension' on the part of the opposition 'has annoyed me extremely'. She also comments on 'the extraordinary visit of that foolish Empress of Austria...it lowers Royalty & female Royalty above all to see an Empress coming over to hunt. You will remember that you agreed with me three years ago on the advisability of stopping it'. The Queen also refers to the visit of Charlotte, Ex-Empress of Mexico, to St. Leonard's for sea bathing.
