Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (1841-1910)

Queen Victoria wishes the Prince to express his views and insist on the treatment of 'the poor natives [in India] like human beings....I believe it is dreadful how they treat these poor creatures'. The Queen describes Princess Thyra of Denmark (later Duchess of Cumberland) as 'very tall but except her eyes very plain'. The Queen reports that Commander John Reginald Thomas Fullerton, R.N. 'has had a most severe attack of typhoid fever - & tho better is very weak & coughs a great deal'. She also says of Colonel (later Sir) George Ashley Maude, that his '4th son is also very ill with it [typhoid fever] & this is only the 11th day'.
