These include the passage of the 1876 Royal Titles Act and the planning of the Prince's tour of India 1875-6, the consequent opening of Parliament and the need for the Princess of Wales and Princes Albert Victor and George to attend in his absence; the purchase of shares in the Suez Canal; the visit of King Christian IX, Queen Louise and Princess Thyra of Denmark; as well as the illness of Prince Albert Victor and the illness and death of the Queen's friend Lady Augusta Stanley in 1876.
