TitleLetter from Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, to Queen Victoria
Date2 June 1861
WriterAlbert Edward, Prince of Wales (1841-1910)
AddresseeVictoria, Queen
DescriptionThe Prince is sorry that Prince Leopold is still unwell and had to be left at Osborne. He recently dined with Dr Whewell and Lady Affleck, where he met the Duchess of St Albans and Lady D. Beauclerc. He also refers to visiting the Duke of Leed, at Gog-Magog near Cambridge, commenting that 'the Duke, as I daresay you know, is a very eccentric man'. He is glad that his birthday present to the Queen pleased her: he wished to give her something which reminded her of the Duchess of Kent, and therefore chose a clock like the one the Queen had given him.
