TitleLetter from Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, to Queen Victoria
Date28 January [1868]
WriterAlbert Edward, Prince of Wales (1841-1910)
AddresseeVictoria, Queen
DescriptionThe letter was incorrectly dated to 1867. The Prince was sorry to hear of Mr [Theodore] Martin's accident at Osborne; no doubt he was pleased by Queen Victoria's invitation to Mrs Martin to nurse him, and she seems to have been of great assistance with the charades. The Prince regrets the Queen overlooking his request for a living for Reverend Tarver, and mentions that Mr R.G. de Bunsen is staying at Sandringham. Referring to Queen Victoria's book [Leaves from the Journal of our Life in the Highlands], the Princes remarks 'I am so glad that a cheap edition is soon to be published, wh. will enable all classes to read the book'. The Prince wishes Superintendent Walker (London Police) to be retained, and asks the Queen to express the wish that he be so.
