Date1860-1869
DescriptionCorrespondence from Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, to Queen Victoria relating to personal, family and state matters.

The series has two distinct groups:

1: (VIC/ADD/A/3/1-73) covers the period from January 1860 to December 1861, the last letter noting an improvement in the health of Albert, the Prince Consort, being dated 14 December, the date of his death. This group also covers the Prince's tour of Canada and the United States of America in 1860 and his visit to Germany in 1861, which included his first meeting with his future wife Princess Alexandra of Denmark.

2: (VIC/ADD/A/3/74-153) covers January 1867 to December 1869 and includes accounts of visits to the International Exhibition in Paris, Wiesbaden and Denmark and, in 1869, the tour of Egypt and the Middle East and Germany again.
