| Description | Robinson writes that he is sending a list (see VIC/ADDA10/85/140) of the Raphael drawings in the Woodburn sale that have been, or are to be, photographed by his department, which will be on sale, excepting nos. 726 and 729 which belong to the Duc d'Aumale, of which photographs have already been commissioned for the Prince Consort's collection.
He has also obtained permission to photograph two other authentic Raphael drawings belonging to Sir John Hippisley and C.S. Bale, and one reported to be by Raphael in Mr Bale's collection. Robinson wishes to offer the Prince six photographs from Raphael drawings in his own collection, and of four more from the Woodburn sale which he bought. He is sending photographs of three more from the sale, and of the two drawings belonging to Hippisley and Bale. These five are in official exchange for photographs presented to his department by the Prince.
He has marked with a cross those on the Woodburn sale list of which photographs have now been sent, and will have the remainder sent. He adds that he wishes to present a copy of the Catalogue of the Uzielli Collection" to the Prince Consort." |
