TitleLetter from Andrew Fountaine to Charles Ruland giving permission for his Raphael drawings to be photographed for the Prince Consort's collection.
Date4 August 1860
WriterFountaine, Andrew
AddresseeRuland, Charles; Librarian to the Prince Consort
DescriptionIn response to Ruland's letter (see VIC/ADDA10/85/141), Fountaine writes that he is willing for the drawings by Raphael in his possession to be photographed for the Prince Consort's collection. He states that they were collected in Italy by an ancestor of his in the early 18th century, and had remained unknown at his family home of Narford (in Norfolk), ever since. He suggests that as he does not know enough about them, they be shown to an expert before being photographed for HRH. He adds that he is going to Scotland until the end of October and will await HRH's commands after that.
