Date[c. May 1861]
WriterWellesley, Henry, Hon. & Rev. Dr.; Principal of New Inn Hall
DescriptionThe note describes, firstly, an engraving of the same composition, in reverse, as Dr Wellesley's drawing of nuns; the measurements are given, and the inscriptions, the creator being Raphael and the engraver Saverio Salvioni, and the original in the possession of Count Ferretti De Presle. Secondly, a lithograph of the same composition as Wellesley's sketch of the Almighty with Jacob kneeling; the measurements are given, and the inscriptions, the copyist being F. Krammer and the lithographers Mansfeld et Comp., with Raffaelle da Urbino inscribed below. Dr. Wellesley has added a note that the drawing from which this was taken is 'not in so great a style as mine'.
The note is undated but bound following Dr Wellesley's letter of 23 May 1861 (see VIC/ADDA10/85/164), which relates to the drawings he lent to Ruland to be photographed for the Prince Consort's collection.
