TitleLetter from P.&D. Colnaghi, Scott & Co. to Charles Ruland regarding various Raphael drawings of which he has requested photographs.
Date23 July 1861
WriterColnaghi, Scott & Co.; art dealers
AddresseeRuland, Charles; Librarian to the Prince Consort
DescriptionIn response to a letter (not present) from Ruland, Colnaghi, Scott & Co. state that they have heard from M. Blaisot that he refused to photograph the drawings ascribed to Raphael as they were worthless; they have written to John Leslie, the portrait painter, who has acquired from Mr Goddard the drawing no. 740 from the Woodburn sale; they have not heard from Baron Marochetti, the owner of no. 743. They are sending a photograph of one of the drawings mentioned by Ruland, which belongs to the Duc d'Aumale, but the drawing is on yellow paper which is very unfavourable for photography. A drawing on the back of another seems to have been omitted by Caldesi, but they will mention this to the Duke.
