TitleLetter from Robert Howlett to Dr. Ernst Becker sending a print of his photograph of the Raphael picture at Kensington Palace.
Date11 August 1858
WriterHowlett, Robert; photographer
AddresseeBecker, Ernst, Dr.; Librarian to the Prince Consort
DescriptionHowlett writes that he is sending a print (see VIC/ADDA10/85/32) of the 'Raphael' picture at Kensington Palace, from a wet collodion negative, after 40 minutes' exposure. With dry collodion and a much longer exposure nothing but the frame came out. He comments that the uneven lighting of the picture and its yellowness make it impossible to get a better result. (The picture is now attributed to Annibale Carraci).
