TitleLetter from the Earl of Aberdeen to Dr. Ernst Becker concerning the Raphael portrait of Lorenzo Pucci at Haddo House.
Date18 October 1858
WriterAberdeen, 4th Earl of
AddresseeBecker, Ernst, Dr.; Librarian to the Prince Consort
DescriptionLord Aberdeen thanks Becker for sending an extract from a letter from Passavant regarding the Raphael at Haddo, and is glad that the photograph of it has turned out well. He points out that Passavant has forgotten he had already mentioned the picture in his life of Raphael, although he had never seen it. He quotes the relevant passage from Passavant's book, describing it as reputedly a portrait of Lorenzo Pucci, but in poor condition. Lord Aberdeen comments that if Passavant had seen the picture he might have had a better opinion of its condition.
