Letter from Mary Severn to Dr. Ernst Becker asking him to pass on her message to the Prince Consort.
Date
24 November 1858
Writer
Severn, Mary; artist
Addressee
Becker, Ernst, Dr.; Librarian to the Prince Consort
Description
Severn asks Becker to pass on her message to the Prince Consort regarding the copy of the fresco at Kensington Palace. She says she believes the fresco has been painted on by another over the top of the Raphael original. She asks whether she should copy the painting as it is or as she imagines it to be underneath. She says she can send the copy as it is to Prince Albert so that he can judge it for himself.
A note by Becker reads 'send the copy'.
