TitleLetter from Charles Thurston Thompson to Dr. Ernst Becker reporting on his progress in photographing the Raphael drawings at Windsor, with a note of Becker's response.
Date22 August 1854 - 1 September 1854
WriterThompson, Charles Thurston; photographer
AddresseeBecker, Ernst, Dr.; Librarian to Prince Albert
Description(4) Thompson writes that he has made about 18 negatives from the Raphael drawings which fit within a 10x12 plate but there are so many bigger drawings that he is having a larger lens made so as not to have to reduce such a large proportion of the collection. It will take Mr Ross a week to make a special lens for this work. Thompson asks whether he should print the negatives as he has had no instructions about this but would like to see how they come out.
(4a) Becker notes that he replied on 1 September instructing Thompson to print them but not keep any prints as the collection must remain private property; but with the Prince's knowledge he indicated that Thompson would get a copy later.
