TitleLetter from Joseph Cundall to Dr. Ernst Becker concerning a Raphael painting supposedly in Thomas Baring's collection.
Date21 June 1859
WriterCundall, Joseph; photographer
AddresseeBecker, Ernst, Dr.; Librarian to the Prince Consort
Description(61) Cundall writes that Thomas Baring does not recognise the sketch Becker sent, which must be of the wrong painting. He has, however, found a painting by G[ianfrancesco] Penni [in Baring's collection] which matches Waagen's description, and of which he encloses a tracing. He promises to send photographs of a Winterhalter painting soon, and he has engaged an artist to touch up the photograph of the Raphael portrait of a young man in the Baring collection.
(62) Tracing of a 'Holy Family' by Penni, enclosed with Cundall's letter.
