| Description | Ruland encloses the reply (see VIC/ADDA10/85/232) to Dr. Kuhlmann's official letter (see VIC/ADDA10/85/229) to Dr. Becker, who did not have time to reply to it before his resignation at the end of 1859. Ruland goes on to explain that the Prince Consort was perfectly willing to have the planned publication of the drawings in the Musée Wicar dedicated to him; he was anxious, however, that this should not prejudice the Duc de Luynes's recent publication containing fine facsimiles of some of the drawings in the museum. As there appears to be no danger of this, he is happy to give his patronage.
Ruland thanks Kuhlmann for returning Dr. Becker's notes on the trials with silicious solutions at Osborne, and for adding his own comments on them (see VIC/ADDA10/85/230). These will be valuable for the forthcoming trials and Ruland will keep Kuhlmann informed of the results. |
