TitleLetter from Mrs Bingham, wife of the photographer, explaining that her husband is ill but that he has just sent the proofs of his photographs of Raphael drawings to the Prince Consort
Date20 January 1860
WriterBingham, E.J., Mrs
AddresseeBecker, Ernest, Dr; Librarian to the Prince Consort
DescriptionMrs Bingham apologises for not having answered Dr Becker's last letter. Her husband has been ill and unable to attend to business for some time. But they have just sent 32 packets of photographs for the Prince Consort to the Embassy [in Paris]; Bingham hopes that the Prince will be pleased with them, and asks to be told of their arrival. One drawing was so indistinct that he cannot charge for the photograph.
She explains that Bingham was ready to go to Lille when he fell ill; he is feeling better and proposes to go there in a week or ten days. Her husband apologises for the delay in sending the photographs.
The addressee is not named, but Ruland's acknowledgment of the photographs (see VIC/ADDA10/85/235) says that they were addressed to Dr. Becker.
