TitleLetter from Albert Moitessier to Charles Ruland sending photographs of Raphael drawings at Montpellier and explaining why he was unable to photograph three other drawings as requested.
Date8 March 1860
WriterMoitessier, Albert
AddresseeRuland, Charles; German Librarian to the Prince Consort
DescriptionMoitessier sends two of the five photographs commissioned from him, but regrets that he cannot supply the others. He was unable to photograph the reverse of the ink drawing by Raphael; the director of the Musée Fabre was away, and his staff would not authorise the photography, which the director would probably have refused anyway. Furthermore, Moitessier was unable to trace the two other drawings of which Ruland asked for photographs (see Ruland's letter, VIC/ADDA10/85/228).
Moitessier offers to send further prints of the photographs and also the negatives, if desired.
A note by Ruland at the end of the letter records his reply asking Moitessier to send the two negatives and two more prints of each, with his bill.
