| Description | M. Moitessier states that he has dispatched a box containing the negatives commissioned from him. He delayed sending them because he wanted to photograph the drawing on the back of the framed ink drawing which he had not been allowed to dismount. He finally obtained permission, but was obliged to photograph the drawing in a place with poor light, so that the result is mediocre. But he has sent it thinking that Ruland would prefer to have it, even imperfect.
He has also sent some prints, as requested; they look a little pale and dull, but he has tried to keep as close as possible to the originals. He gives the dimensions of the three drawings [from the Musée Fabre] and will send those of the drawings in the School of Medecine shortly.
Ruland had asked for a bill, but Moitessier says that this puts him in a difficulty as he is not a professional photographer; he prefers to leave it to Ruland to decide on the sum to be paid to him. A note dated 26 May at the end of the letter records that he was paid 500 francs. |
