Title
Letter from the British Consul at Genoa to Mr J. Bairr in Milan regarding the photographic plates the latter has sent him for dispatch to Prince Albert.
Date
13 March 1858
Writer
Brown, Montagu Yeats; British Consul at Genoa 1858-1892
Addressee
Bairr, J.
Description
The Consul states that has received Bairr's letter informing him that the photographic plates he has recently sent him were commissioned by Prince Albert, but as he himself has received no orders from the Prince and he is not permitted to send anything to the court without special authorisation, he asks Bairr to obtain this authorisation via Mr Becker, of whom the Consul has never heard.
Bairr is the person named by Kanné (see VIC/ADDA10/85/252) as the reliable friend to whom he had entrusted the organisation of the photography at Milan.
