TitleCopy of letter from Dr. Ernst Becker to Gerolamo Brioschi informing him that payment has been sent for his work, but that the Prince Consort has decided not to give him any further work because of his exorbitant charges.
Date9 July 1858
WriterBecker, Ernest, Dr.; Librarian to the Prince Consort
AddresseeBrioschi, Gerolamo; photographer, Milan
DescriptionIn reply to Brioschi's letter (see VIC/ADDA10/85/266), Becker says that his bill for 530 francs has been paid, but points out that this price is four times as high as the best London photographers would ask. There are more pictures in Milan that the Prince would have liked to have photographed, but in view of the fact that Brioschi has charged so much for four reproductions which are not even of the same size, so that they cannot be joined together, HRH has decided not to give him any further commissions.
Written on the back of Brioschi's letter, see VIC/ADDA10/85/266, with note that this refers to 'the Fumagalli Madonna'.
