TitleDraft letter from Charles Ruland to Augustus Craven enquiring about progress on the promised photographs of works by Raphael in Naples.
Date19 June 1861
WriterRuland, Charles; German Librarian to the Prince Consort
AddresseeCraven, Augustus
DescriptionRuland writes that George Russell has told him he gave Craven a list of paintings and drawings in the Museum of Naples which the Prince Consort wished to have photographed. In March Craven wrote to Sir Charles Phipps saying he would supervise the photography, had found a photographer, Tomasi, and hoped to send the plates in about ten days' time. However nothing has been received, nor any communication from Craven. Ruland asks Craven to let him know promptly whether permission for the photography has been obtained, and whether anything untoward has prevented the work being carried out.
