TitleLetter from the British Envoy to Hanover to Dr. Ernst Becker enclosing a letter from Senator Culemann regarding a Raphael drawing in the Kestner collection.
Date22 December 1859
WriterGordon, George J.R.; British Envoy to Hanover, 1858-9
AddresseeBecker, Ernst, Dr.; Librarian to the Prince Consort
DescriptionGordon writes in response to Becker's letter of 14 December, sending a letter he has received from Senator Culemann which apparently clears up the doubt about whether there is a Raphael sketch in the Kestner collection in Hanover. Sir Charles Eastlake is mentioned in the letter because he had seen the collection. Gordon regrets that he has been transferred from Hanover to Stuttgart and will therefore be unable to help further in this matter, but he is sure Senator Culemann will help, and he has put Culemann in touch with George Petre, the new British Chargé d'Affaires in Hanover, in case he has anything to send to London.
