| Description | Gruner writes that there has been nothing further in the newspapers about the consequences of the Prince Consort's accident, so he trusts that all is well, and asks Ruland to tell HRH how glad he is.
He goes on to say that he persuaded Professor Grahl to lend him his Raphael drawing (Passavant Vol. III no. 606), but the photography took time and it was not possible to obtain a good reproduction because of the sad state of the original. But he does not think anything better could be achieved even in England, and he hopes the Prince will make allowances for it. He has no news of the Neher drawing, which is in Switzerland, but he thinks he has done what was required for a photograph of it to be made in due course. He asks for news of the Prince Consort.
The Prince Consort had been injured in a carriage accident in Coburg. It is assumed that Professor Grahl is the painter August Grahl, who was also a collector and is mentioned in earlier letters from Gruner in this collection. |
