| Description | Ruland asks Stockmar if he would arrange for some 'Rafaeliana' in Berlin to be photographed for the Prince Consort. He lists the works in question:
First, in the possession of the dealer Herr Heubel, who has already given permission for the photography:
1. A drawing for Joshua's victory over the Ammonites
2. A drawing for a St George
3. 5 drawings after amorini in frescoes in Rome
4. A drawing of a rider fighting with a lion
5. A scene showing a trial before assembled people
6. A drawing of a merwoman riding on a dolphin
7. A drawing of (Saints) Katharina and Dorothea
Secondly, two works from the Berlin Museum, which Ruland has not yet obtained permission to have photographed; he presumes he should write to Herr von Olfers for this. The works are a Pieta in tempera on canvas, showing Christ standing in the grave with arms outstretched in front of a crucifix, described in Passavant's French edition Volume II p. 325; and an Ecce Homo from the Galleria Giustiniani, mentioned in Passavant Volume II page 599.
Ruland recommends the photographer who photographed Herr von Savigny's 'Justitia' and 'Flying Angel' the previous summer; his glass plates were of excellent quality and arrived intact thanks to careful packing. |
