TitleLetter from Professor Joseph Keller to Dr. Ernst Becker.
Date15 September 1858
WriterKeller, Joseph, Professor; engraver, Professor at the Düsseldorf Academy
AddresseeBecker, Ernst, Dr.; Librarian to the Prince Consort
DescriptionProfessor Keller apologises for the delay in sending the promised facsimile (see VIC/ADDA10/85/375) of the [Raphael] Madonna which he now encloses; he had wanted to have a few prints made on yellowed writing paper, but the plate was mislaid at the printer's so he was obliged to send one of the earlier prints on white printing paper. When he looked again at the facsimile of the battle scene, however, he found it so bad that he did not dare send a copy of it, for it did not give any idea of what the drawing was like. He declares himself ready to perform any other service that might be required.
