TitleLetter from Artaria & Co. to Dr. Ernst Becker announcing that the drawing ('Astronomy') from the Archduke Albrecht's collection has been photographed and the glass plate sent to the Prince Consort via the British Legation as instructed.
Date6 October 1859
WriterArtaria & Co.; art publishers in Vienna
AddresseeBecker, Ernst, Dr.; Librarian to the Prince Consort
DescriptionThe letter expresses the company's satisfaction at the safe arrival of the glass plates they have already sent, and their hope that the photographs fulfil HRH's expectations.
As to the extra photograph requested by Becker, of the Raphael drawing in the collection of Archduke Albrecht, permission was readily granted and the photograph has been taken. It is of the same size as the original drawing and Artaria think it as successful as the others. It has been carefully packed and sent to the British Legation in Vienna, addressed to HRH. Artaria's bill for £1.15 is enclosed. They had hoped to be able to track down the missing engravings (Kupferstiche) in Italy, but the war has frustrated their efforts, for which they beg indulgence.

Becker has added a note of his response: that the Prince is satisfied with the photographs and with Artaria's prompt fulfilment of his commission, and Becker has arranged payment of their invoices.
