Description
The Lords unanimously acquitted James Thomas, 7th Earl of Cardigan, on the ground that the Christian name of the person alleged to have been wounded was not proved. Law Lords held this to be fatal, and were bound to acquit. Melbourne thinks it as good a termination of the affair as could have closed it.
