DescriptionMelbourne spoke to Lord Duncannon as Queen Victoria desired, and sends his answer. Melbourne will come to Windsor and speak to Her Majesty respecting Chinese affairs. Will also convey to Palmerston Her Majesty's impression of Lord Ponsonby's secret contract. Melbourne went to dinner with Lady Holland, and tells Queen Victoria who were there. Melbourne unable to wait on Queen Victoria because he is detained at Quarter Sessions on the question of Police. A great muster of Magistrates, and a hard struggle.
