TitleLetter from Lord Melbourne to Queen Victoria
Date2 May 1841
WriterMelbourne, 2nd Viscount
AddresseeVictoria, Queen
DescriptionNot known what course the Opposition means to pursue. It will probably soon attempt some decisive thing. Will probably know their plans tomorrow. The suicide of the Member for Sandwich necessitates an election, and also appointment to the office rendered vacant. Melbourne has a candidate in his mind. The Royal Academy dinner passed as usual. Melbourne thinks there are fewer good works, and a larger proportion of decidedly bad pictures, than for some years.
