Title
Letter from Lord Melbourne to Queen Victoria
Date
19 June 1841
Writer
Melbourne, 2nd Viscount
Addressee
Victoria, Queen
Description
Brougham asks for an Audience for someone, but Melbourne suggests that he be told it will not be convenient until after Tuesday. Melbourne will bring the Queen's Speech to Queen Victoria as settled at Cabinet. Lord Chancellor of Ireland has resigned. This enables the carrying into effect the arrangement already made, that Sir John Campbell be Lord Chancellor, and Sir Charles Webbe Solicitor-General. Melbourne has thought it proper to write to Murray and another to urge them to accommodate their differences. Never was there so improper a dispute. These matters and many others ought never to have been mentioned to Queen Victoria.
