DescriptionMelbourne moved the Second Reading of the Municipal Corporations Bill for abolishing the present contributions of Ireland, and substituting others in their room. Duke of Wellington made a cross speech, condemning the bill, but recommending Second Reading. Carried, 95 to 18. The 18 were the most violent of the Tory party whom Wellington cannot govern as he pleases.
