Description
Lord Derby's proposal of an addition to the Commission of Lord Methuen, Colonel of 'one of the best' regiments, to re-dress party balance in the list. Lord Derby on the appointment of Colonel G.A.F. Liddell as Groom-in-Waiting to Queen Victoria. His gratitude for Her Majesty's attention to his political connection. Reason for the impossibility of the appointment of Captain Hugh Annesley (after 5th Earl). His brother's fear of the risk of a contested election in event of his appointment. Charles Baillie mentioned by Lord Derby as a probable candidate for appointment as Lord Advocate. Vacancy in Lord Justice Clerkship (Scotland) caused by the death of the Right Honourable John Hope. Queen Victoria's approval assumed of John Inglis' (after Lord Glencorse) appointment as Lord Justice Clerk (Scotland).
