DescriptionLord Derby on the proposal to confer the Order of the Bath on the Kings of Siam [Thailand]. The second King's desire for a British order. Necessity for also conferring one on the first King. Proposal as to a Companionship (C.B.). His view as to granting a Grand Cross (G.C.B.) to Said Pasha*, Khedive of Egypt. *It is assumed that he was the Khedive, though he is only spoken of as Pasha. ('Khedive' title only conferred in 1867, on Said's successor Ismail).
