Description
Assertion in the House of Commons as to the effect of John Bright's peace principles in France. Lord Palmerston on W.E. Gladstone's remarks, as a member of the Government, on operations in China. Continued uncertainty as to his action. Sir Charles Wood and Mr Sidney Herbert to succeed the Duke of Argyll as Ministers in Attendance at Balmoral. Lord Palmerston told the Postmaster General 'cannot sit in the House of Commons'.
