Description
Lord Palmerston's assumption of Queen Victoria's approval of the appointment of Reverend Adolphus Frederick Carey as Vicar of Brixham. Reverend J.C. Carwithen submitted for the Living of Stokenham. Reply to remarks by the Prince Consort on the smallness of the pensions granted from the Civil List for literary merit. Benefit conferred by even small sums. Reflection on 'one's own expenditure.' Lord Palmerston to the Prince Consort on Cabinet's discussion regarding the method of dealing with surplus [revenue]. Various plans proposed. Proposal to provide for paying off part of the Exchequer Bonds issued on account of the Crimean War, in the forthcoming Budget. Final decision.
