Mr James White, Member of Parliament for Brighton's comment [in connection with grant to Princess Alice]. His dislike of the institutions of the country, but 'the Court is the best part of the whole concern'. Lord Palmerston on his own and Sir C. Wood's view of the detrimental effect of Lord John Russell's removal from the Commons at present. Sir C. Wood to urge him to defer his request for promotion to House of Lords. Palmerston proposes the Thistle for Adam, 2nd Earl of Camperdown.
