Description
Lord Palmerston on the difficulty of finding a successor to Mr Bagwell as Lord of the Treasury. No Irish member willing to vacate their seat in the Commons, to take up the office lest priests should render his re-election impossible. Colonel Henry White (after 1st Baron Annaly) of Longford (a Protestant borough) now willing to risk re-election. Need for writ to be moved immediately. Queen Victoria's approval requested.
