Queen Victoria's wish to confer a Knight Commandership (K.C.B.) on Prince Ernest of Leiningen, reserving a Grand Cross (G.C.B.) for a future occasion. His qualifications and grounds for the honour. Similar cases cited in support of the proposal: Prince Charles of Leiningen K.G. (Knight of the Garter); Prince Christian of Denmark (G.C.B.); George, Hereditary Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (G.C.B) and Prince Ernest Christian Charles of Hohenlohe-Langenburg (husband of Princess Feodora, Her Majesty's half sister) (G.C.B.).
