Queen Victoria's reply to Lord Palmerston (No. 98) on the inadequacy of the sum suggested for Mary Louisa, Countess of Elgin. Her view of the importance of her husband's public services and absence of any provision for her. Civil List pension of £2000 proposed. Reverend F. Jeune approved as Dean of Lincoln, on the condition mentioned by Lord Palmerston. [Giving up his Mastership of Pembroke College, Oxford.]
